Our beautiful canalside house is located in the centre of Amsterdam on Keizersgracht between Leidsegracht and Leidsestraat, a fine example of a fashionable 17th-century residence. We moved here in 1999 and then created 2 guestrooms for our B&B. We intentionally chose the classic B&B concept that includes breakfasts served at our guest table by ourselves and guestrooms located in our own home. Our guestrooms are located at the entrance and lower levels of the house.\u00a0The grand views to the beautiful canal and vibrant street life are truly unique!\u00a0The rooms are situated in such a way that our guests can come and go as they please.
\nWhen you step out the door, you are just a few minutes\u2019 walk from the edge of the Jordaan district with its unique neighbourly atmosphere, the bustling Leidseplein or Dam square and, behind it, the Red Light District. Trams stop just a few seconds walk from our front door.<\/p>\n

In 1999, we finalized a major renovation of the building. Since then, everyone feels instantly at home. Contributing to this inviting atmosphere are the blend of modern and antique furnishings, the fine stuccowork, the old beams and carefully chosen colours.
\nOver the centuries, our house has seen many changes made to it. In the top, the facade shows a large and unusual window frame. The painter Simon Maris had it made, as a source of light into his workshop. Maris worked and lived here from 1904 till 1927. Back then, the house was well known by the local artists, Piet Mondriaan among others, as a salon to discuss art and life. To keep this former resident of our house alive we started looking for paintings of Simon Maris and managed to obtain a few at several auctions. These paintings are decorating one of the walls of the breakfast room.<\/p>\n

In the roomy kitchen at the back of our house, we prepare a varied breakfast every morning: croissants and rolls fresh from the oven, yoghurt, milk, mueslis, freshly juiced orange juice, and an egg served as you like it. Our guests are invited to draw up a seat at our long table in the adjoining dining room with a view to the garden.
\nOver the years, our B&B has been featured in countless magazines, newspapers and travel guides as the place to be for its unique homelike ambience, its good personal service, and its perfect location. In 2004, just five years after we opened, Wildervanck Bed & Breakfast won the prestigious Dutch Bed & Breakfast Award and we are still proud of it.
